Changes to Governance of The Global Foundation The Secretariat advises that, at the meeting of the Board held in Sydney on 21 May 2008, due to increasing commitments with other roles, Mr David Murray AO stepped down as Chairman. The Board appointed The Hon Warwick Smith AM, who rejoined the Board in 2007, having previously served as a founding director, to act as Chairman. The Board gratefully acknowledged Mr Murray’s contribution as Chairman over the past two years, leading the Foundation through a period of growth and increased profile. The Board has appointed Mr Murray as an Honorary Advisor to the Foundation and he will remain a member of the Advisory Council. In addition, at the recent meeting of the Advisory Council held in Sydney on 13 May 2008, Professor Emeritus Sir Gustav Nossal AC CBE and Mr Tim Besley AC stepped down as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Council, respectively, having held these positions since 2003. Lt Gen John Sanderson AC and Mr Fergus Ryan have been appointed Chairman and Deputy Chairman. In recognition of the services of Sir Gustav and Mr Besley, the Board has invited them to accept appointments as Patrons of the Foundation and their contributions will be appropriately acknowledged at a dinner to coincide with our Annual General Meeting later in the year.
