| Fourth Asia-Pacific Round Table in Singapore, 6 & 7 February 2006 |
|
The Global Foundation hosted its fourth Asia-Pacific Round Table in Singapore on 6 and 7 February 2006. In partnership with the World Bank and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and the generous support of a number of public and private sector sponsors, the Foundation brought together 100 participants from across the globe, representing business, governments, multilateral institutions, think-tanks and civil society.
The meeting followed on from three previous Round Tables held in Washington, Beijing and Sydney respectively since first exchange of dialogue 2001. The 2006 meeting was specifically designed to give the private sector a voice in decision-making in the region and to provide a forum to discuss the challenges of doing business in Asia, set against the strategic backdrop of the rise of China and India and the changing role of ASEAN. The meeting was timely in that it provided a useful lead-up to the World Bank / IMF’s annual meetings held in Singapore later in the same year.
