Australia-India Dialogue

In conjunction with the Indian and Australian Governments and with the active support of the respective High Commissioners, the Foundation has devised a comprehensive program of engagement and interaction with the most senior levels of Indian society.

The Foundation has led two missions to India, incorporating multi-city visits and meetings with a number of senior figures from the Indian Government, major institutions and the private sector.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) have each played a key role in the programming and conduct of the Mission.

India Mission 2006

The Foundation’s second Mission to India was staged from 4 – 6 October 2006 and visited the cities of New Delhi and Mumbai.

Twenty participants were co-led by Mrs Jane Hemstritch, Managing Director – Asia Pacific, Accenture and Mr Steve Howard, Secretary, The Global Foundation. The delegation comprised leaders of Australian and global companies with significant or potential interests in India, in the fields of banking, insurance, transport, education, infrastructure development and consulting.

The purpose of the second India Mission was to continue to promote the development of Australia’s bilateral relationship with India, through addressing issues of political and economic concern to those seeking or already doing business in or with India.
